Adam Lambert has set a March 20, 2012 release date for his sophomore album, “Trespassing.” The disc’s first single, “Better Than I Know Myself,” will debut on Tuesday the 20th.

For the follow-up to 2009′s “For Your Entertainment,” the former “American Idol” star brought in Dr. Luke, Pharrell Williams, Benny Blanco and Bruno Mars for producing and songwriting duties, among others. Meanwhile, Lambert served as the album’s executive producer.

The singer describes the album in a press release as “an exciting journey through the past two years of my life. It’s been a transformative period and I really wanted to make music from what I’ve experienced. All these songs honestly explore the ups and downs of my reality.”

After finishing as the runner-up on the eighth season of “American Idol” in May 2009, Lambert issued “For Your Entertainment” that November. Supported by the single “Whataya Want From Me” and a sexually charged performance at the 2009 American Music Awards, the album debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200.

The Grammy nominations were announced on Wednesday, and leading the lineup of nominated artists was Kanye West with a total of seven nominations, primarily for the song, “All of the Lights.” His album was left off of best album contention, and “Lights” was not nominated for Record of the Year.

Also up for top album honors, aside from Adele’s “21″ and Mars’ “Doo-Wops & Hooligans,” is Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” and Rihanna’s “Loud.”

Surprising newcomer to the nominations list is Bon Iver, an indie-folk singer who appeared on much of Kanye West’s latest album. Iver is up for Record of the Year for “Holocene,” which also snagged a nomination for Song of the Year, and is competing against Nicki Minaj, Skrillex, J. Cole and The Band Perry for Best New Artist.

The 54th Grammys will be held Feb. 12 in Los Angeles on CBS.

Just days after he was arrested in Las Vegas on a cocaine charge, rising R&B singer Bruno Mars, claimed his first No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 singles chart Wednesday.

“Just the Way You Are,” which also marks his first charting single as a lead artist, rose two places to the top and ended the two-week reign of Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream,” which fell to No. 4. (Mars previously went to No. 1 in May, as the featured artist on B.o.B’s “Nothin’ On You”).

Mars was arrested early Sunday on suspicion of possessing cocaine after a suspicious bathroom attendant at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino alerted authorities.

Katy Perry has had back to back #1 entries on Billboard’s Hot 100 singles chart Thursday as the title track from her recent chart-topping album “Teenage Dream” rose one place to the top.

Perry ended the nonconsecutive seven-week reign of Eminem’s “Love the Way You Lie,” which slipped to No. 2. She previously ruled the chart for six weeks with the summer hit “California Gurls,” which currently ranks at No. 10, down three.

Elsewhere, Taio Cruz’s “Dynamite” held at No. 3, Bruno Mars’ “Just the Way You Are” rose two to No. 4, and “I Like It” by Enrique Iglesias featuring Pitbull slipped one to No. 5.

Usher’s “DJ Got Us Fallin’ In Love,” also featuring Pitbull, fell one to No. 6, Taylor Swift’s “Mine” rose two to No. 7, and “Take It Off” by Ke$ha jumped two to No. 8.

Nelly returned to the top 10 for the first time in more than four years as “Just a Dream” climbed four to No. 9. The rapper was last in the upper tier when “Grillz,” featuring Paul Wall, Ali & Gipp, topped the list for two weeks in January 2006.

Way to go Katy Perry! She must be rollin in the dough now!
