Lea Michelle, Taylor Swift Auditioned for Musical “Les Miserables”

In the upcoming musical film adaptation of the musical “Les Miserables,” which is set to be directed by Tom Hopper, Oscar winner for “The King’s Speech,” Taylor Swift, Lea Michelle, Scarlett Johansson and Evan Rachel Wood all have reportedly auditioned for the coveted role of Eponine.

Reportedly, Lea Michelle’s audition was spectacular, although she has the advantage of being in Les Miserables previously, playing Cosette as a child. Johansson is desired due to her acting ability and the fact that she can actually sing, whereas Wood “brings her indie cred.” Swift in the role would mark her first big move to Hollywood.

“Les Miserables” has already tapped Anne Hathaway to play female lead Fantine, Hugh Jackman to star as leading man Jean Valjean, and Russell Crowe to portray police inspector Javert. Eddie Redmayne and Geoffrey Rush are also part of the movie.

The film is set to release on December 7, 2012.
