Katy Perry Says Madonna Was Inspiration for “Part of Me” Film

Katy Perry has cited Madonna as a big influence, especially on her “Part of Me” 3-D concert movie, which hits theaters July 5. Perry says the film was partially inspired by the Queen of Pop’s 1991 film “Truth or Dare.”

In a recent interview with Teen Vogue, the always-colorful starlet spoke about her upcoming big-screen adventure and how “Truth or Dare” led to its creation.

“Madonna is everything to me, and that movie is amazing, because it caught her at a time when she was a bit more vulnerable,” Perry said of the film, which chronicled the icon’s Blond Ambition Tour. “I wanted to do that too, to capture a snapshot of who I am now so that I can remind myself what I’ve lost if I ever do become totally jaded.”

On Tuesday, the trailer for the anticipated flick surfaced. In the two-minute preview, Katy’s rise to stardom remains a key theme of the film as flashback footage and photos of the singer’s younger days is shown.

In an interview with The Sun, superstar Madonna spoke out about her memories of Whitney Houston’s career and influence.

She said of the singer: “One thing I was struck by with Whitney Houston is I remember she sort of came out as a singer around the same time I did,” Madonna added. “I remember looking at her singing and hearing people talk about her, and just thinking, ‘Oh my God. She’s such a beautiful woman and my God, what an incredible voice. I wish I could sing like that.’ I just remember being extremely envious of her and also touched by her innocence.”

She also said: “It is all about who you surround yourself with — friends and people who really do care about you, and care about your well-being beyond being a superstar. That’s the most important thing.”

Madonna is now focused on the upcoming release of her album MDNA, and she said, “I hope I inspire women and give them strength to deal with life no matter what comes their way.”

Madonna has released her second MDNA single, “Girl Gone Wild.” The dance-infused song, released Monday (February 27), proves that this next slew of Madonna tunes will certainly be dance tunes.

“Girl Gone Wild” was produced by Benny Benassi and is a catchy, dance-floor worthy tune.

The video was shot earlier this month and was directed by fashion photographers Mert and Marcus, who also shot the colorful artwork for the album. It had been rumored that Britney Spears would be featured on the track, but that rumor was shot down by Madonna herself.

MDNA will drop on March 26. It features production from collaborators like Martin Solveig and William Orbit, Demolition Crew, Alessandro “Alle” Benassi, Hardy “Indiigo” Muanza and Michael Malih.

Adele Flashes Middle Finger at Brit Awards

Adele flashed her middle finger at the Brit Awards on Tuesday night in London.

When the singer took the stage to accept her second award, for Album of the Year, she was interrupted by the night’s host, British TV presenter and actor James Corden. He was ready to introduce Blur, who were set to perform right after Adele accepted her award, the Daily Mail reported.

“Nothing beats coming home with six Grammys and then coming to the Brits and winning album of the year,” she told the room, filled with A-listers like Coldplay, Rihanna and Bruno Mars, before Corden stepped onstage beside her.

“Are you about to cut me off? Can I just say then, goodbye and I’ll see you next time round?” she asked him before flipping him the bird, causing the room to cheer.

After the interruption, a rep for ITV, which aired the awards show, said, “The Brits is a live event. Unfortunately the program was over-running and we had to move on. We would like to apologize to Adele for the interruption.”

Adele apologized in a statement after the broadcast. “I was about to thank the British public for their support,” she explained. “They cut me off, sorry if I offended anyone but the suits offended me.”

Madonna has spoken about M.I.A.’s Super Bowl halftime flip-off, and she is not happy about it. In an interview with Ryan Seacrest, Madonna revealed that she was unaware of M.I.A.’s stunt during their performance of her new single “Give Me All Your Luvin'” until after the Super Bowl halftime show had wrapped, and that she “wasn’t happy” about M.I.A.’s middle finger salute.

“To tell you the truth, I didn’t even know about it. I actually didn’t know about it until I left,” says Madonna. “I was really surprised. I didn’t know anything about it. I wasn’t happy about it. I understand it’s punk rock and everything, but to me there was such a feeling of love and good energy, and positivity, it seemed negative… It’s such a teenager…irrelevant thing to do. There was such a feeling of love and unity there. What was the point? It was just out of place.”

While M.I.A. has not spoken out on the middle finger flip (or its motivation), NBC quickly issued an apology following the incident, which was witnessed by millions on the network. “Our system was late to obscure the inappropriate gesture and we apologize to our viewers,” NBC said in a statement.

Rumors suggest that Madonna she could be joined by Cee Lo Green for her SuperBowl halftime performance.

According to sources, the singer has asked “The Voice” judge to perform with her at the February 5 show. “The Insider” reports that he’s been flying to New York to rehearse with the pop icon. The sources add that he will contribute his signature flair to some of her classic tunes.

The pairing would make sense given that the new season of “The Voice” premieres right after the Super Bowl next month.

When the singer takes the halftime stage next month, her performance will be “imagined” by Cirque du Soleil and Madonna’s longtime choreographer and creative director Jamie King. According to reports, the set list for the show will include new single “Give Me All Your Luvin” as well as the Madonna classics “Ray of Light,” “Vogue” and “Music.”

“I have eight minutes to set up my stage, 12 minutes to put on the greatest show on earth, and I have seven minutes to take it down so that football field is clean for the second half of the game,” she told ABC News about the performance. “That’s the challenge. How do you do that?”
